I MAKE AWESOME
beautiful & functional design for web & print, amongst other things

Mortis2000.co.uk
How could I refuse the guy who first got me into the IT business, when he came to me wanting new websites? Well, I couldn't, basically.
This is what I made of the old business website, now pointing the way to the newer sites I created for his personal blog & business site. We had good fun working Jamie's personality in with the clean, professional style he wanted. Photographing him on a roof for those photos was a giggle, too!

'Cherries On A Cloud Burlesque' Flyer
When the response to the first draft of a design is "Blooming brilliant!" then you know you're on the right track. Just goes to show that when an idea hits you square in the face, it tends to be the right one.
I'm particularly pround of the clean, minimalist look I got by using vector graphics for this one.

DCIS-Online.com
All I had to go on for this site was that it should be minimal, professional, and informative. I think I achieved that perfectly well, and fortunately the client did too!
I used Jquery to create an accordion style layout that keeps the focus on the section the user wishes to read, and the images resize to fit the browser width to give it more flexibility.

Wise Umos Blog
My old boss wanted a blog for his personal projects, and I was only too happy to oblige him.
This Wordpress theme uses CSS3 technology to add extra touches to a design that degrades elegantly in older browsers that don't support the newly developing standards.

Polytical.org
I really enjoyed making a nice clean experience for this community-oriented site. It was also a pleasure to work with the group, as there are so much symbolism associated with the movement that I could play with to make the site more relevant and colourful.

EggsandBakin.co.uk
Though I was employed solely as the designer for this site, by working closely with the developer, I think we pulled off something rather special. It gave me a peek into the world of Joomla theming, which might be an arena I'll drop into in the future.
I did discover that working with pictures of cakes for any length of time does tend to make you hungry.

'Cheeks for Charity' Flyer
I love working with the burlesque industry - rarely does one get so much creative freedom to work with. And that one gets to work with beautiful women is no down side!
I not only provided the poster for this event, but also came up with the name. That was a great help when it came to designing this minimalistic, modern and classy poster.

'Silver Bullet Suite' CD Cover
Emotive music deserves emotive artwork, I always say. So when I heard Leah Keller's music I knew I had to create something special.
Blending artistic styles in the same way she blends her music, I believe I did her first single justice with this cover. it is now available on iTunes, amongst numerous other places.

Amana.org.uk
People with no real experience of web technology needed to be able to update the site for this charity, so Drupal was my first choice for this site, which is filling up every day with more content for the community.
Along with the site, I revamped their entire branding, bringing them into the new technological age.

'Pansexual Cabaret' Flyer
Cabaret is never without character, and bringing that out in a flyer is always a pleasant challenge. The striking image used here was an excellent inspiration for the unifying style.
Sucessfully fusing delicate art nouveau with a clean & modern feel was a feat well achieved, though I do say so myself.

'Bad Education' Flyer
A central part of university life is the societies, and non more so than the music societies. When they put on an event, you have to give it gravity.
With the over-abundance of different typography giving it a suitably anarchich feel, I feel that the minimalist colour palette is an effective attention-grabber. Strategic positioning of the models also helps to draw in the eye.

Amana Education Trust Email Template
Amana wanted more direct ways to reach their community.. This email newsletter, along with numerous flyers with the new branding I created, was the result.
Training the staff to use Mailchimp's web interface to send out these emails was a much bigger task than creating the templates!

Rocksoc Flyer
Speed is sometimes of the essence, and being able to drop out something of suitably high quality on a tight deadline is a proud trait of mine.
Though stranded with a low-resolution logo & only stock images at my disposal, this was produced in an evening just the day before the flyers went to print. This proves that stretching limited resources is not a forgotten talent in the digital age.

'Storm In A D Cup' Flyer
With event flyers one is always up against a battle for space - especially when faced with high volumes of information.
It is all too easy to give up and reduce the graphic content in favour of reams of text, but I think this piece of design shows that striking design does not need to be compromised to encompass information.

'Club Scar' Flyer
The information was found on the back of this flyer, which gave me a lot more space to play with on the front. With the new logo & mascot I created happily in place, all that was required was to create something grisly enough to support the grisly connotations of the club name.
I don't think I was unsucessful in that achievement!
